An absolutely devastating outbreak of wildfires are currently ravaging the entire continent of Australia right now, so much so that firefighters are still struggling to contain the fires.
According to NBC, 24 people have died nationwide and nearly 2,000 homes have been destroyed in the 12.35 million acres of land that have been burned. It is estimated that over 500,000 animals have been killed and including frogs, insects, and bats, that number is much, much higher.
Keith Urban and his wife Nicole Kidman, both of whom have Australian roots, (Nicole is Australian, Keith was born in New Zealand but raised in Australia) have donated $500,000 dollars to support relief efforts in their homeland.
“Our family’s support, thoughts, and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia. We are donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are all doing and giving so much right now.”
