Joe Burrow Learned About The Passing Of LSU Offensive Coordinator’s Daughter-In-Law On Live TV

This is tough to watch.

On her way to the Atlanta to watch LSU take on Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl yesterday, LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger’s daughter-in-law, Carley McCord was tragically killed in a plane crash, along with 4 other people.

Absolutely gut-wrenching news for the Tiger family, just hours before a huge game, and Heisman-winning quarterback Joe Burrow goes out and delivers a monumental performance.

And he had no idea.

In fact, Joe awkwardly learned the news in the postgame interview when ESPN’s Dari Nowkhah asked him about how coach was doing and whether he had a “sense” during the game.

Obviously Dari would’ve never asked Joe about this if he didn’t know, but that’s why you can’t assume anything, especially during live TV. And regardless, probably not a question that needs to be asked right now. Just let it go.

Congrats to Joe and the LSU Tigers, and of course, our condolences to coach Ensminger and all Carley’s friends and family. I can’t begin to imagine what they’re going through right now.
