Cody Johnson Honors His Grandfather Who Just Passed Away With “Live Forever” Cover

One of the best in the business right here.

During a recent show, Cody Johnson took a quick break to thank the crowd for allowing him and the band to do what they do. He also points out that because of his fans, he was able to get a record deal in Nashville without having to sell his soul to the devil.

You don’t have to worry about CoJo changing, or being influenced by the machine.

That thank you to the fans then turned to Cody explaining that his grandfather just passed away, and that he was given his guitar. Upon seeing his grandmother, Cody picked up the guitar and played Billy Joe Shaver’s, “Live Forever,” for her.

He said he needed to play the song for his fans as well, and had them in the palm of his hand during this performance.
