Eric Church Blasts Garth Brooks, Sings “I Know Garth Didn’t Do It This Way” During Waylon Jennings Cover

Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly love Eric Church any more, he goes and does something like this, once again proving you wrong.

Last night in Washington DC, Eric was covering Waylon Jennings’ 1975 classic, “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way,” and absolutely bodybagged Garth Brooks with a subtle jab at the end of the song.

While the line from Waylon typically reads: “But I don’t think Hank done it this way, no, I don’t think Hank done it this way,” an homage to the great Hank Williams Sr., Eric changed the final line to “I know Garth didn’t do it this way.”

The crowd roared, the band busted up laughing, but the best part of the entire thing was that signature “yeah, I said it” Eric Church smirk that he flashed as he walked away from the mic.

Of course, the whole thing was an obvious response to the Entertainer of the Year robbery that occurred last week at the CMA Awards.

Petty? Yeah maybe… but I absolutely love it.
