The Double Fisting Nationals Fan That Took A Home Run To The Chest Is The Real MVP

“Get down, take it off the chest.”

My high school baseball coach said that religiously. And, while maybe he just did a poor job of explaining how to square up to a ground ball, he almost seemed to take pride in NOT fielding it cleanly. No for him, he much rather block it like a catcher, pick it up, and then throw it to first. He was an idiot.

However for one Washington Nationals fan last night, that word of advice proved to be pretty useful.

Game 5, second inning, Yordan Alverez cranks a two-run homer to left center, and right there in the first row of the bleachers, a man by the name of Jeff Adams is spotted double fisting two Bud Light tallboys with said home run ball making a beeline for his exact seat. With only a fraction of a second to spare, and at risk of losing one, if not both, of those precious beers, Jeff makes the decision to square up and take the home run shot right off the chest, bringing the ball to an immediate rest right between his feet. All without spilling a single drop.

It was a beautiful moment, the kind that only sports can deliver. Jeff Adams, you sir are the real MVP.

Here’s the postgame news conference with our beer slinging hero.
