Sam Adams New 28% Alcohol Utopias Beer Is Illegal In 15 States

Sam Adams isn’t playing around anymore.

Their limited-edition Utopias hit shelves again this week, and it’s probably unlike any beer you’ve ever had in your entire life. At 28% alcohol, this thing packs such a punch that the beer isn’t even carbonated. This year’s batch was also aged in Cognac and Madeira finishing barrels so, more like a liquor, Sam Adams recommends you sip on it one ounce at a time. I don’t know about you, but that is the opposite of how I like to drink my beer.

Oh, and of that wasn’t enough to send you running for the nearest can of Busch Light, one bottle will cost you a hefty $210 dollars. Yeah, $210 bucks for one fancy bottle of beer that I’m supposed to drink an ounce of at a time.

Not to mention, if you live in Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, or West Virginia, you can’t even buy it in your state because it’s illegal.

Hard pass.

Of course, if ol’ Samuel Adams wants to send me a bottle, I’d be more than happy to rethink my position.
