Dolly Parton Reveals Why She Passed On Another “Old Town Road” Remix

If you remember back to July, Lil Nas X tweeted about getting Dolly Parton on the next remix of “Old Town Road.” Of course, Dolly responded with the unicorn emoji which pretty much meant that we should’ve expected it to drop any day, however as it turns out, Dolly did in fact have an opportunity to jump on board and she ultimately passed.

In a recent interview with Elle MagazineDolly explained why didn’t want to

I had an opportunity to be part of that, but it had done so well with so many people. I thought, ‘Well, I’ll wait and do something later on. No point in going down that same Old Town Road. We got other roads to travel.’”

However, despite passing on the remix, she did offer praise for Lil Nas X and “Old Town Road,” of which, she called a “corny country song.”

I was so happy for him. The fact that that was such a country song, I mean, that’s as corny as any country song could be. I don’t mean corny in a bad way. I don’t care how we present country music or keep it alive. I hope it stays alive forever. The fact that all these other people in other fields of music want to be part of that, are able to be part of that — I’m all about acceptance.”

Oh, what could’ve been…
