Sturgill Simpson To Play Character Named “Kid Rock” In Upcoming Horror Film, ‘The Hunt’

It feels like every week I’m writing a new article about an upcoming movie starring Sturgill Simpson.

He recently made a cameo appearance in the Jim Jarmusch zombie flick, The Dead Don’t Die, of which, he also wrote the theme song. He plays a police officer in the upcoming Lena Waithe drama, Queen and Slim. He was in the CBS series, One Dollar and his upcoming album, Sound & Fury will also be accompanied by a Japanese anime film of the same name. The point is, he’s everywhere.

This latest one, The Hunt, is an upcoming horror/thriller from the same folks that brought us The Purge, Get Out, BlacKKKlansmen, and more.

Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose … The Hunt.

In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a bunch of elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted knows The Hunters’ game better than they do.

According to IMDB, Sturgill plays a character named “Kid Rock.” Not the Kid Rock, but Kid Rock nonetheless. The film also stars Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Emma Roberts, Ethan Suplee, Glenn Howerton, Ike Barinholz, and more.

The Hunt will hit theaters on September 27th, check out the trailer below.
