Country Music Fan & BIG Eric Church Guy, Matt Duchene, Signs With Nashville Predators

A match made in Heaven.

Today Matt Duchene, one of the biggest names in the NHL free agency market, agreed to a 7-year, 8 million dollar AAV contract with the Nashville Predators. While this is a great fit for the Predators on the ice, adding the speedy and skilled centerman, it is an equally great fit for Duchene off of the ice. He is openly one of the biggest fans of country music in the sport and a BIG Eric Church guy, (who isn’t).

Note the “Sinners Like Me” line written on his stick.

BIG Dierks guy too.

Back in 2016 when Nashville hosted the NHL All Star festivities, Duchene spoke highly of his time in the city. “It was fun to be in that environment, the music and the hockey — those are my two favorite things.” It is no surprise that the two were able to work out a deal once he became an unrestricted free agent.

Not only is Duchene talented on the ice, but he can also hold his own with a guitar.

Most notably, he has had the opportunity to join Garth Brooks, Jake Owen and Lee Brice on stage for surprise performances. Last December, Duchene joined Canadian group, the James Barker Band on stage at a show in Ottawa, to play a cover of Morgan Wallen’s “Whiskey Glasses”.

Spending the next 7 years in Nashville, it will be interesting to see what stage he pops up on next.
