According to CNN, an Alabama car dealership is celebrating Independence Day with a month-long promotion. Dubbed the “God, Guns and Freedom” sale, Chatham Ford will be giving away a free Bible, an American flag and a gift certificate for a 12-gauge shotgun when they purchase any new or used vehicle.

“We’re going to be celebrating July Fourth a little bit differently this year,” he said in the video, posted to Facebook June 19.

Of course, customers will have to pass a background check, depending on the state they live in to obtain the shotgun.

“Obviously, we’re not just running around willy-nilly and giving everybody a shotgun,” said Koby Palmer, the dealership’s sales manager.

However, despite the positive response from people in the area, Ford’s corporate headquarters wasn’t too pleased with the promotion, and they demanded that the dealership remove the gun from the sale. The original promo video was removed and Chatham offered up the following message on their Facebook page.

“We were running a promotion celebrating this country’s independence. Ford Motor Company manufactures the products we are franchised to sell, so we are complying with their request. We appreciate everyone’s support. All the phone calls and messages were so greatly appreciated. We will fulfill all commitments we made to our customers.”

Customer will now get a $200 gift certificate to spend anywhere, in addition to the Bible and gun. The promotion will run through July 31st.
