The end of an era.

The popular Netflix show, The Ranch, is officially over.

After an interview with Sam Elliott, there was a lot of speculation that Season 4 (Parts 7 and 8) would be the final season, however another interview with Sam Elliott gave fans hope when he said that the cast signed 5-season contracts for the show and that he would be willing to continue filming. However, no formal announcement regarding the show’s future was made… until now.

It should be noted that after multiple rape allegations surfaced against Danny Masterson, AKA Rooster, his character was written out of the show and replaced with Dax Shepard. The show seemed to struggle after his exit and, despite Shepard joining the cast, they were never really able to fill the void. Although, Masterson was invited back to attend the wrap party in Los Angeles last month.

Ashton Kutcher tweeted out the unfortunate confirmation yesterday afternoon:

“The Ranch is coming to an end, but not just yet. We’re excited to bring you the final 20 episodes — 10 streaming later this year (2019) on Netflix, and then 10 more in 2020. Stay tuned!”

The Ranch star Elisha Cuthbert also shared a heartfelt goodbye on her Instagram:

“One of the most enjoyable experiences of my professional career has come to a close. over the last 4 years we have completed filming all 80 live shows BUT ITS FAR FROM DONE FOR YOU! We’re excited to bring you the final 20 episodes — 10 streaming later this year (2019) on Netflix, and then 10 more in 2020. I’m so grateful for all my time spent with these incredible actors and crew and I’m so thankful for all the awesome fans of the show! We hope y’all get a kick out of the last 20!”
