Cody Johnson Sings “Pray For Rain” In An Empty Bar Almost 10 Years Ago & It’s INCREDIBLE

If you were to ask one of the most popular country stars of today how he is doing as of May 2019, Cody Johnson will say that he’s doing pretty damn good.

CoJo would probably tell you all about his kick-ass new album, amazing tour, hearing his songs on the radio, sharing the stage with some of the most iconic artists in country music, and selling out major stadiums and arenas. You know, business as usual for Cody Johnson right now.

It wasn’t always that way, in fact, we stumbled upon an old video published back in 2011 of Cody singing one of his early hits, “Pray For Rain” at an empty bar down in Texas… and it’s GREAT. This was in the early stages of his career in the independent circuit, back when all he needed was a guitar and a good song. Wait a second though… has anything really changed?

Now in 2019, Cody has a major label backing him, loads of radio play, and national recognition, but you can see that every empty smoky bar was part of the process and it was those nights that led him to where he is today.

It might be a bigger stage, with a bigger crowd, but it’s still all about a guitar and a good song.

What a killer live performance, all the way back in 2011. No doubt, one of my all-time favorites.

Whiskey Riff is the most entertaining country site…ever.
