Beer. America’s pastime.
Every state thinks they make the best beer, just like every state thinks they have the best food, best sports teams… you name it, they think they do it better. I hate to break it to you South Dakota, but you have Mount Rushmore and that’s about it.
However when it comes to beer, we actually have some data to look at. The good folks at Groupon analyzed some publicly available data, along with their own Groupon data, and came up with three metrics to determine the best beer states in the country. They calculated the average score of the 5 best-tasting beers made in that state (quality), the average cost of a 12oz. beer in each state (affordability), and the number of beer-related Groupons sold in that state per 1,000 people (enthusiasm).
And the winner is…
California.
