Lil Nax X and “Old Town Road” have become the biggest thing in music.
The song has been surrounded by controversy ever since it was removed from the Billboard Hot Country Chart, however today, it’s the #1 song in the country, it’s charting on the Country Airplay charts and even Billy Ray Cyrus cut a remix for the song. Some (like Lil Nas X) have even gone as far to call Billy Ray Cyrus, “The GOAT.” (Ok, hold your horses guy… no pun intended.)
During the 54th Annual ACM Awards, Entertainment Tonight Canada caught up with some of country’s own on the red carpet, asking their opinions on the “country-ness” of the hit song. Overall, responses were pretty mixed, with some digging it more than others, however many of them remained pretty hesitant to say the song was equivocally “not country.”
