The LA Kings = BIG Country Music Guys

As it turns out, the Los Angeles Kings are BIG country guys.

A hockey team? Maybe, especially the Predators, but a hockey team in Los Angeles? Pretty surprising. However, according to NHL.com, country is the music of choice in the Kings locker room.

“I go to Boots and Hearts a lot, it’s basically the Stagecoach of Canada,” says Kings forward Matt Luff who cites “Fishin’ in the Dark” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as his go-to country song. “I’ve gone three times now, so that’s big, Luke Bryan goes all the time and Florida Georgia Line was the headliner last year, so they have some pretty big names that go.”

With that, the Kings will celebrate “Country Night” on March 18th, complete with a Drew Doughty cowboy hat bobblehead.

“I do like country music and I like cowboy hats,” says Doughty, who has been a country fan since he was nine years old. Along with forward Trevor Lewis, Doughty says that Eric Church is his favorite artist right now.

Jonny Brodzinski says George Strait and Brooks & Dunn as his favorite, while forward Austin Wagner says Brothers Osborne is the best concert he’s ever seen.

Apparently, last year’s country night was an overwhelming success, at least for Jeff Carter. Either way, if you’re a country fan and looking for another team to root for, the LA Kings might be the team for you.
