With his latest release being From A Room: Vol. 2 back in 2017, one might expect to see some new Chris Stapleton at some point this year. Don’t hold your breath.
According to an interview with Billboard, Chris doesn’t have anything new ready to go and it doesn’t look like he’s planning on it anytime soon.
“You know, I can’t say. Not that I won’t say, I actually can’t say. We don’t have anything new necessarily in the can. We’ve done a little bit of experimenting, but we don’t have anything concrete. There probably won’t be [an album] this year. There will be a record in the future. I don’t know how near or how distant that future will be.”
For the most part, all three of Stapleton’s studio albums, including Traveller from way back in 2015, consistently chart in the Top 10. With that kind of sustained success, there doesn’t seem like any reason for Chris to hurry back into the studio. Bummer.
However, you can catch Chris out on the road this summer with Margo Price, Brothers Osborne, Brent Cobb, Kendell Marvel and more.
