Welcome to Major League Soccer.

The city of Nashville unveiled their new MLS soccer team, Nashville SC, along with its new crest, to soccer fans in a ceremony at Marathon Music Works yesterday.

According to the TennesseanNashville SC’s new crest features its two official colors, “Acoustic Blue” and “Electric Gold,” with the main part of the crest being gold and the blue being superimposed on the rest of the crest. Nashville SC is in blue with the new monogram of the team at the top of the crest. The design of the logo was based on the sound and vibrations of music.

“This is another big moment for us on the road to getting this all pulled together and getting to MLS,” Nashville owner John Ingram said. “It’s been a little over two years and there’s been a lot we’ve gotten done and this is a big milestone.”

Next year, Nashville SC will play at Nissan Stadium while their new stadium is being built at the Fairgrounds.

Forgive my ignorance here, but why do some teams have a mascot and some teams are just the city name and “SC” (Soccer Club) after it? Here, we have the Chicago Fire, there’s the New York Red Bulls, Seattle Sounders and then you have Nashville SC, Toronto FC, FC Dallas… no consistency? It’s madness.

Anyways, here’s the Season 2 hype video. Get ready.
