Man, and I get pissed when I drunkenly tip the band $20 bucks to play “Chattahoochee.”

Anyways, a man was arrested in Nashville yesterday for public intoxication after he was found tipping servers upwards of $22,000 at a downtown Nashville hotel bar.

According to the arrest affidavit for Joel D. Boyers, police were contacted by a friend after exchanging texts which raised concern about his welfare. According to the friend, Boyers stated he was taking drugs which “increased his intelligence” and made other statements about giving his child away on Facebook.

Hotel staff said he was causing a disturbance when servers and bartenders started “competing” for his service, after he started handing out those big tips. He was also carrying a gun, which police took from him. He was arrested on charges of public intoxication and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

Oh, ya think?

It’s hard to imagine a scenario where a guy isn’t drunk off his ass in downtown Nashville and handing out $22,000 in tips. I’ve over-tipped many a time in my life, many times significantly, and you want to know the common denominator in all of them? No, it’s not great service, and it’s not even an attractive server, it’s me being totally shitfaced.

And, the hotel has the audacity to call the police on a guy who is quite literally changing the lives of the staff? Should he be carrying a gun that wasted? Absolutely not, but nothing in the report suggests that it ever left his pocket. No, the disturbance was all the staff was trying to get a piece from Mr. Moneybags over here and neglecting their other customers.

What really happened is that management got jealous that they’re not the ones getting any of the action and they put the kibosh on the whole thing. Selfish… incredibly selfish.
