On my shortlist of new artists you need to discover this year, Joshua Ray Walker is somewhere near the top.
He recently released the music video for “Canyon,” a song that serves as both a way for Walker to try and cope with his father’s diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer, and also as an introspective look at himself.
“This video for “Canyon” features all the characters I’ve created, and real people this album is about,” says Walker to Rolling Stone. “Sometimes, it’s hard to tell truth from fiction in my writing, even for me. This video is a good representation of my view of the world. I think you have to make some bad choices to write a good story.”
Joshua Ray Walker’s must-hear debut album Wish You Were Here, was recently released on January 25th. Go get it.
