Sturgill Simpson Honors Willie Nelson With Performance Of “Red Headed Rounder”

What a night.

Some of country music’s best, including Sturgill Simpson, got together last night in Nashville to honor the great Willie Nelson.

In the intro to his performance, Sturgill alluded to his infamous CMA Awards busking stunt outside of the Bridgestone Arena by saying: “It goes without saying, it’s an honor to be here tonight. This is my first time playing inside Bridgestone.”

He went on to perform “Red Headed Rounder,” an unreleased Merle Haggard song written about Willie.
