Texas Country is an entirely different animal than the Nashville stuff you are probably used to hearing on the radio.

The Texas/Red Dirt country scene is almost completely separated from the Nashville country world and many Texas acts would prefer to keep it that way. It also has its own radio stations and its own touring circuit around the state. It tends to be more traditional, a little more rootsy and its fans are loyal to the core. Either way, it’s an entire world of country music that you need to be listening to ASAP.

Here’s 25 songs to get you started.
