Little did these people know, they were standing in the presence of greatness.
Back in March of 2014, before the release of Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, Sturgill played a little show at a place in Austin, Texas, called the Broken Spoke. It’s little dive bar/dance hall that could pass for somebody’s basement where you had your first sip of beer in high school. It’s a pretty iconic spot in the Austin music scene, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at it.
Anyways, three short years later, Sturgill won a Grammy for “Best Country Album.” Time flies when you’re kicking ass.
Whiskey Riff is the most entertaining country site…ever.
