Watch Sturgill Simpson’s Old Dive Bar Performance Of “Long White Line”

Little did these people know, that at the time, they were standing in the presence of greatness.

Back in March of 2014, before the release of Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, Sturgill played a little show at a place in Austin, Texas, called the Broken Spoke. It’s little dive bar/dance hall that could pass for somebody’s basement where you had your first sip of beer in high school. It’s a pretty iconic spot in the Austin music scene, in fact, George Strait’s most recent album Honky Tonk Time Machine features the Broken Spoke on the cover. But that being said, you wouldn’t know it just by looking at it.

Anyways, three short years later, Sturgill won a Grammy for “Best Country Album” and is gearing up to release his 4th studio album, Sound & Fury, at the end of the month.

Time flies when you’re kicking ass.
