This past April, a U.S. Border Patrol started the Sawmill Fire after he shot a Tannerite-filled target for his baby’s gender reveal party. The fire burned almost 47,000 acres of state land for more than a week.
Today however, the video was released of the explosion that featured a few seconds of blue powder (congrats on the boy) and nearly a week’s worth of wildfire.
While nobody was injured and no homes were lost, the border agent was was federally charged with causing a fire without a permit and sentenced to pay $100,000 up front, along with $500 every month for the next 20 years.
Although, he agreed to over 8 MILLION in restitution… now word on how much of that he’ll wind up paying.
“I feel absolutely horrible about it. It was probably one of the worst days of my life.”
Look, these gender reveal things are already pretty ridiculous, but when you start burning down thousand and thousands of acres because you wanted to see a blue explosion, you’re on an entirely different level of stupid.
At $220,000 in fines and $8 million in damage, I hope it was worth it…
