There are plenty of songs about women leaving, but many have a more sorrowed sound with apologies, excuses, and sad goodbyes. Not from the Pistol Annies though.
“Leavers Lullaby” is a shameless tale of a woman who’s leaving because she isn’t satisfied. There’s no “it’s not you, it’s me” explanations here. These ladies clearly state, “I want whatever it is I ain’t getting from you.”
The song sends a very clear message of self-awareness and self-acceptance. This is how I am, how I’ll always be, and you aren’t changing that anytime soon. I’m not getting what I need, so pack your bags and go on your way. The outro features the sweet melody of a lullaby to ease the pain of the cold hard truth.
