Up-and-Coming Country Singer Abby Nicole Dies in ATV Accident

Heartbreaking news here for an aspiring young country singer.

25-year-old Abby Nicole died early Sunday after injuries sustained during an ATV accident. Here’s more from 1011:

DESHLER, Nebraska. – Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol, Troop H, are investigating a death that occurred at the Thayer County Fairgrounds in Deshler on Sunday, July 23. The Thayer County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 4:20 a.m. that a 25 year-old female was injured near the racetrack while riding inside a UTV. Deshler Rescue and sheriff’s deputies responded. The victim was transported to Thayer County Health Services in Hebron where Abby Uecker, of Norfolk, succumbed to her injuries at 5:30 a.m.

Uecker is listed as the lead singer for Abby Nicole and County Road. According to the country and classic rock band’s Facebook page, they performed both Friday and Saturday night at the Thayer County Fair.

In March, the singer who went by Abby Nicole on stage told our media partner News Channel Nebraska she was planning a move to Nashville in August to concentrate on music full time.

“Just to immerse myself in that love of music and be around and write every day is kind of where I want to be,” she told News Channel Nebraska in March. “That’s what everyone says, you just have got to dive on in, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

“It’s a little different than my first song. It has a different feel, it’s more rock,” Nicole told News Channel Nebraska. “My first song was kind of poppy, in the summer, kind of fun. This one’s a little more grit, there’s a little more underneath it”

Uecker graduated in December 2015 from the University of Nebraska Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.
