If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love preserving my memories. It’s why I make my friends, family and boyfriend take way too many pictures all the time because I know they’ll thank me later to have something to look back on and remember the day.
Let’s face it, as we get older we forget about all the fun things we said we’d remember forever. It’s just life. You won’t remember every funny joke, outfit or crazy event unless you do something to preserve it. Whether it means taking a picture, shooting a video, crafting a caption or keeping a little physical momento of the event, it’s so so worth it.
One of my favorite ways to celebrate little events is with a big old bottle of cheap wine. (Cheap for now, I’m not making my millions yet). Whether it’s a birthday, passing a big test, getting a job offer, getting engaged, whatever, I like to celebrate my life and other people’s lives with wine, and I know I’m not alone.
A fun way to remember all these celebrations? DON’T DITCH YOUR WINE CORKS!
Instead of throwing them away with that $6 bottle of Pinot, keep ’em, and write the date of the time you drank them as well as the reason why. Then, store them together in a large vase, shadow box or really any container you like.
Then, on a rainy day or just whenever you feel like it, pull them out and remember all the good times (or even the sad times) you popped in a bottle. There really is nothing like having something to physically hold from the past to really get you feeling nostalgic. It’s all about the little things people. Celebrate them. And most of all, remember them.
