To the girls who’ve at some point been caught in between wanting to find love now and girls who want to wait for the right guys- IT’S HARD. I know. Trust me.
The patience you have starts to run out and you want to find someone now. You want to find someone so bad that you start to accept those pathetic pickup lines as chivalry and those one-night stands as love. You lower your standards and settle for the person who shows at least a little bit of interest in you. This seems like the only option and the easy thing to do at the time but what you’re missing is the big picture.
You’ve limited yourself and you’ve put a timeline on God’s plan for your life when that’s not your job. He has a plan and He knows the right time for everything. He also knows what you deserve, and it’s for damn sure not the guy buying you a drink, getting you in bed, then failing to treat you right when the sun comes up.
Like this song, “The Right One” describes, the man you deserve is a man who’d build you a house with his two bare hands. He’d spin you around just to see you smile and watch you dance. He’s the kind of man you’re proud to introduce to you dad. He respects you and loves you like you deserve to be loved. So as easy as it is to get caught up in your own lie, that the guy from last Friday night is what love is, hold out for a damn good man, the kind that your younger and more patient self would be proud to be with.
So as easy as it is to get caught up in your own lie, hold out for a damn good man, the kind of man that your younger and more patient self would be proud to be with.
“Holdin’ out for a damn good man.
Build me a house with his two bare hands.
Spin me round just to watch me dance.
Holdin out for a damn good man.”
Let’s let Emily Reid bring us home with her performance of “The Right One.”
