40 Best Country Albums Of 2016

Country music had a big year in 2016.

Evidenced, most notably, by Sturgill Simpson’s big Grammy nod for the all-genre Album of the Year, country music made some serious noise in the music world. Regardless of where you fall on scale of country music fandom, we got to hear so many great records, each with a little something for everybody. Traditional country music made a pretty strong comeback and the powerhouse ladies of country music, in many cases, outshined the boys. All in all, it was pretty damn hard to rank our Whiskey Riff Top 40 and that’s a great problem to have.

Find out where your favorite album ranked and feel free to let us know what we missed in the comments.
