With it being the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards, there’s jam-packed night of performances.
Word is Beyonce will be performing, but Kip Moore won’t be…hm, alright. I wanted to take a second to vent for all the Kip Moore fans out there, the fans that were there from day one. There’s no bigger snub tonight, and not just tonight, but in general. He’s the most underrated, underappreciated, whatever the fuck you wanna call it, country artist out there today. He puts on a live show unlike anyone else, and consistently raises the bar with his songwriting and unique take on country music. We love the guy.
Sure there are guys like Sturgill and Isbell not a part of the night – these are two of the best. However, these two have already carved their niche, almost intentionally doing away with all mainstream country, whether that be award shows, radio, etc. Anybody that loves country knows how great they are, and will continue to be.
Kip is mainstream, new stream, old stream, his own stream. You get my point. Kip’s a lot like Eric Church in that he does things his way, for the fans. Sometimes that isn’t taken to so well from the big wigs. Fuck it. Us fans will always have his back. And anybody that has seen Kip live, knows he deserves to be on that stage tonight.
Whiskey Riff is the most entertaining country site…ever.
