A country boy keeping it country. A country boy that can sing and isn’t afraid to put out songs with deeper meanings he knows may not chart like the poppy counterparts. So much respect for this guy. We need more Craig Campbells.
3. Sturgill Simpson
Simply one of the best in ALL of music. It’s horrifying how many mainstream country fans don’t even know who the guy is. He has the type of voice and songwriting that could make him go down as one of the best artists the last 25 years.
I’m begging you to listen to every song Sturgill has ever recorded. You will not be sorry.
2. Chris Stapleton (still)
I get Chris had a big awards night last year, and Justin Timberlake helped the casual country fan become more familiar. However, I STILL feel like he doesn’t get the credit he deserves and the admiration from your so called “true country fan.”
He may be the best male vocalist in the history of country music, and radio hardly plays him.
1. Kip Moore
Kip has passionate fans.
When it comes to some of the shit you read on social media, it’s clear he gets judged unfairly from time to time for simply being real, honest, non-conforming, and a sense of humor.
That’s exactly what we should love about an artist right? The fact he hasn’t sold out. The fact he puts on the best live show aside from maybe Garth and Church. The fact he couldn’t possibly care any more about his fans, and always takes time for them.
Take it from me, and from Whiskey Riff. Kip treated us great long before Whiskey Riff was anything, and continues to treat us great now. He can sing his ass off, blow the roof off any venue (ya’ll have roof insurance?), writes like nobody’s business, has his own sound, and marches to the beat of his own drum. He’s one of the best we have not only in country, but music today.
