With another award show announcement, there is yet, another group of artists left out of the party.
While you could go on and on about the many deserving artists that should be celebrated, it is a very difficult process to nail down a few top nominees for each category. That being said, we can’t help but scratch our heads a little at this year’s nominations.
Here are our biggest snubs from the 2016 CMA Awards nominations.
Entertainer of the Year: Jason Aldean*
Aldean consistently has one of the best live shows in the world. His raw energy and stage presence go along with a huge catalog of hit songs to give every concert goer a once in a lifetime experience. He is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year for a reason. I call bullshit.
*Apparently Eric Church didn’t qualify or some shit. I don’t know.
Male Vocalist of the Year: Sturgill Simpson
I know I’m dreaming and he wouldn’t attend the ceremony anyway, but can give this guy the credit he deserves? Then again, when Blake Shelton can’t even get a Male Vocalist nom, you know there’s stiff competition.
Female Vocalist of The Year: Cam
Song of the Year nominee but can’t get any love for top female vocalist? It’s a shame, but there’s a long list of women like Brandy Clark or Ashley Monroe that could be on this every year and aren’t.
Single of the Year: Florida Georgia Line’s “H.O.L.Y.”
It’s been number one of the country charts for like 15 straight weeks. Enough said.
Song of the Year: Cole Swindell’s “You Should Be Here”
Have we heard a more powerful, heartfelt song this year? I don’t think so.
New Artist of the Year: Sam Hunt
Not sure what happened to Sam on this one. Cole was nominated for this award two years ago and is somehow still a new artist. With the kind of success Sam has had, I’m not sure why he was left off this year’s ballot.
