Jon Langston is well on his way to becoming a household name. He’s got serious star power potential with the support system, growing fan base, and drive to get him there. Langston has been busy over the past few years. Originally from small-town Loganville, Georgia, he attended Garner-Webb University to play football until injuries took him out of the game. That was what led him to pick up a guitar and the dream was born. Langston wrote his first song “Forever Girl” and that changed his life. He made the necessary move to Nashville in 2014 and since then he’s released four EPs, done shows with countless big league artists, played his own headlining sell out shows, and much more. Jon is a machine that can’t be stopped. I got to spend time with the “Rollin’ in and Rockin’ Out” singer over the course of a couple show stops and we talked music, life, and what’s coming.
2016 has been a pretty big year for you. What are the highlights that come to mind?
Opening for Luke Bryan is definitely a highlight because getting to perform in front of that many people has been a dream come true. Going on a real tour with Chase Rice was huge too.
What’s it been like doing shows with artists such as Chase Rice, Thomas Rhett and Luke Bryan?
I’ve learned a lot from those guys, especially how to be a better front man. I’ve learned more about how to interact with the crowd, how to entertain and perform while still singing at the best of my ability. It’s been great.
Definitely Eric Church. He’s one of the best artist and songwriters there is and I’ve always looked up to him. That would be a dream come true.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I actually like going to the movies by myself. I like my “me-time”
Are you a Belieber?
Oh yeah. We sing “Love Yourself” in my set so the band and I definitely are.
What are you doing when you’re not on the road?
When I’m not on the road I’m at the farm doing some catfishing. I love hitting the lake with friends and the dogs and drinking a few cold ones on the dock. Aside from that I’m resting up.
What’s coming next?
I’ll hopefully be on tour this fall, but I can’t say much on that for right now.
We’ve been saying it for a long time, but if you haven’t gotten on board with Jon Langston yet, it’s time to do so now. Keep up with Jon on Twitter at @JonTLangston and on Instagram at @jonlangston. Check out his music online and his most recent music video for “Rollin’ In and Rockin’ Out” which was filmed by his brother, Andrew Langston.
