Beer Gets Pulled From Story After People Say The Name Offends Them..

Sweet Baby Jesus!, a chocolate and peanut butter porter (that people really like) made by the DuClaw Brewing Co. of Baltimore, Maryland has been pulled from a Cleveland-based grocery store chain, Heinen’s Grocery Store. For what reason?

People are offended by the name…

After hearing complaints from customers who said they were offended by the beer’s name, Heinen’s Grocery Store, which has 22 locations in Ohio and Illinois, has stopped selling it.

Sweet Baby Jesus! is DuClaw’s most popular beer, accounting for approximately 35 to 40 percent of the brewery’s total sales, according to DuClaw founder Dave Benfield.

“When you push boundaries and try to get one group excited about it, inevitably people are going to get upset on one side or the other,” Benfield told the Baltimore Business Journal.

“It’s not meant to be offensive, it’s not meant to be derogatory. If we thought we’d stepped over the line and offended people, we probably wouldn’t have done it in the first place.”

People…so sensitive these days.
