Remember When Tim McGraw Slapped A Fan Who Was Yanking On His Leg During A Concert?

Tim McGraw country music

Ahh, Tim McGraw, the early 2000s legend and king of concerts with aggressive fan encounters…

Who could forget confronting a heckler when he forgot the words to “Just To See You Smile” or when he yanked a rowdy fan on stage to have security throw him out?

Ole Timmy sure ain’t afraid to mix it up, and can you blame him? The guy’s built like a brick shit house. Throw in the fact that at 55 years old he’s at peak dad/old man strength and you’re cruising for a bruising messing with Mr. McGraw.

Which leads me to a wild video from a 2014 concert in Atlanta where a front row fan got a little handsy and paid the price.

He was in the middle of the bro-country anthem “Truck Yeah” and was giving the crowd high fives when a lady went a little too far.

It’s hard to tell from the video, but she appears to have been reaching for his pocket or perhaps his, uhmm… private parts, which of course is bound to make you quite uncomfortable.

Well, Tim isn’t one for inaction so he quickly turned around and swatted at her hand, and when she wouldn’t let go, he smacked her right in the face with a good old fashioned slap.

Security immediately jumped in and removed her, but man, he’s got some good reactions, huh? Knew exactly who it was and laid the punishment quickly and efficiently.

Of course, it wasn’t a hard slap… more just to send the message, but man, safe to say… lesson learned.

Tim’s team later clarified the incident, saying:

“At the end of the night during the encore, Tim was singing out in the audience and someone firmly grabbed onto his leg and wouldn’t let go as he was moving through the crowd.

He instinctively swatted to try and keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing), and so he could get to more fans who were trying to slap hands with him before the end of the show.

He didn’t know who had grabbed him and was trying to keep his pants from being torn.”

Tim himself added that it was an unfortunate situation and that he just reacted instinctively:

“Sometimes things can lose context and perspective. I reacted in an instinctive, defensive way from my perspective of what was going on. I think it was an unfortunate situation, I think all the way around.

But it happened, it happened in a split second, it was pure instinctive reaction, I think you just got to move on. It is one of those things that happen, nobody feels good about it, but there’s nothing that could be done about it.

You are in that position, you are out there, you are vulnerable, things happen and sometimes you react. There’s nothing to be said about it.”

Tim later reached out to the fan and according to his attorney it was resolved with a “simple conversation,” but nevertheless, don’t mess with Mr. McGraw.
