Here at Whiskey Riff, we always like to joke about who we would want to sign if we had our own record label. As far as independent artists go, Cody Johnson was always at the top of that list.
Today, Cody announced a partnership with Warner Music Nashville. As a touring machine, Johnson has continued to grow his loyal fan base, becoming the first independent artist to sell out the Houston Rodeo at NRG stadium earlier this year at nearly 75,000 tickets. In 2017 alone, he sold over 350,000 hard tickets and hasn’t showed any sign of slowing down. His nationwide tour launched in April and will continue through the rest of the summer. His most recent album Gotta Be Me hit No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 11 on the Billboard 200.
With six independent albums and nearly 300 million streams, Johnson has already established himself as one of country music’s most talented rising stars.
