There is only one independent artist in the world that has sold out NRG Stadium at RodeoHouston. His name is Cody Johnson. Selling over 74,000 tickets this past Saturday, Johnson made history, outselling artists like Little Big Town, Blake Shelton, Kelsea Ballerini, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan and Chris Young and basically everybody else except Garth Brooks. If you’ve seen Cody Johnson live however, you’ll know why. The guy is the real deal.
“Houston, biggest show of my life all thanks to y’all! Can’t begin to express what it means to be the first unsigned artist in history to sell out RodeoHouston at NRG…thanks for a night I’ll never forget,” shared an emotional Johnson.
Watch one of those emotional moment below, as Johnson teared up hearing the crowd sing along during “Texas Kind Of Way” during last year’s Houston Rodeo.
Fast forward to this year as Cody performs a new song titled “Dear Rodeo” in front of almost 75,000 Texas fans. It was incredible.
