Jake Owen has always been recognized as one of the best golfers in the music industry, and this week it was announced that he will tee it up in the Web.com Tour’s Nashville Golf Open next May.
While he has played in many PGA pro-ams over the years as a celebrity, this will be his first time in the tournament field mixing it up with the pros for real.
“It’s so cool to have been awarded a sponsor exemption to play in the Nashville Golf Open,” said Owen in a statement. “I am truly honored to have this opportunity to play golf with guys whose work ethic I admire so much, like my buddy Brandt Snedeker. I know how hard everyone works to get to play in these PGA TOUR tournaments. I’m really grateful, and I can’t wait for this week in May 2018 to get here.”
After graduating high school, Owen had plans to pursue golf at the collegiate level, in hopes of eventually turning pro. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury while wakeboarding forced him to temporarily put the clubs away, and pick up his guitar. While we can now be thankful this led to so many hit songs, it will be awesome to see Jake live out his other dream on the course next spring.
A new type of stage. 🎸
