Elk is some damn good meat. Will I eat it at Arby’s? Hell no.
With hunting season at our fingertips, Arby’s is looking to corner the wild game fast-food market, as if there was one. Starting October 21st, all 3,300 restaurants across the country will serve a venison sandwich, and a limited-edition Elk Sandwich will be available in three restaurants in the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.
“We took a look at what hunters and wild game enthusiasts love to talk about eating and elk was something that kept popping up, and we said, ‘this is another great tasting game meat we think our guests would enjoy it,'” says Chief Marketing Officer Jim Taylor.
All well and good, but the kind of people that eat elk and venison are the same kind of people that think places like McDonald’s and Arby’s are a travesty to animal consumption. I eat meat at every meal and I’m sure there is a time and a place for an on-the-go elk burger, but Arby’s? Maybe if this was Culvers or Five Guys I’d be more inclined, but I just don’t see it flying off the shelves. Love those curly fries though.
Am I wrong?
