Old Dominion‘s new song, “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart” was released at the perfect time for me personally.
I’m sure some of ya’ll relate to me on this one…
I feel like every time I’ve put myself out there in a relationship, I always end up being the one with a broken heart. Every time it’s ended in heartache, confusion, and complete frustration. This past year specifically, I’ve managed to completely guard my heart. I’m talking completely closed off. I guarded my heart so much that there was never room for good things such as love to get in. I thought I was helping myself when really I was avoiding feeling too deep out of fear of getting hurt…again.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s important to have a guarded heart. I was raised to protect my heart above all else. I still to this day do so, however, after living and learning, I’ve realized that there’s a balance between vulnerability and guarding your heart. All this time I thought I was being strong when really I wasn’t being strong enough to open my heart up again.
“No Such Thing As A Broken Heart” is a song that encompasses all that I’m talking about. It encourages people to take the leap of faith, be vulnerable, and love like there’s no chance your heart will get broken. This is the only way you’ll ultimately find the love your heart desires and you deserve.
