Luke Combs is coming home.
In partnership with Apple Music, he just announced a special show at Coyote Joes in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 28th, which will also be streamed in over 165 countries later in August as part of the Apple Music Live series for those who can’t make it.
Luke said in a statement that he can’t wait to get back there and play such an intimate show for his fans… I mean, the guy has been packing out NFL stadiums here lately, so this will certainly be something special to see him go back to his roots:
“Apple Music has been a big part of helping me get my music out to my fans, so I jumped at the idea of being able to play a special live show for them to enjoy.
I also couldn’t think of a better place to do it than back home in North Carolina at Coyote Joe’s… a venue that I have lots of great memories at.
I’m really looking forward to playing the full album live for the fans and everyone being able to watch it on August 24!”
And though tickets are extremely limited (you have to register to even get the chance to snag one), it will certainly be a helluva show, as Coyote Joes is a very special place to Luke and there’s no doubt he’s going to absolutely bring it for the hometown crowd.
The reigning CMA Entertainer Of The Year just released his third career studio album Growin’ Up, and became a first-time dad to baby boy Tex, but it looks like he was able to get a night or two off for the occasion.
Luke actually saw Eric Church at the venue back in 2014, which became a turning point in his music journey, and he shared a little bit about it in an Instagram post a while back:
“Thought this was a really cool photo to share. This was taken on February 14th, 2014, almost exactly 4 years ago to the date. That guy on the right had just released his 4th record and man was it good.
That kid on the far left… that’s me. A kid with a dream and a hell of a lot of inspiration from that guy on the right. Hard to believe it’s only been 4 years, it seems like a lifetime ago, and in many ways it was but that show lit a fire under my ass.
That’s the day the kid you see on the left KNEW that he wanted to do what that guy on the right was doing. Thanks for the inspiration Chief.”
Coyote Joes is also my all-time favorite music venue and hometown bar, and I saw Luke play there years ago right after “Hurricane” came out, which was completely insane in the best way possible.
Luke filmed the music video for his first #1 single “Hurricane” in front of a sold-out crowd of over 3,000 fans back in the day, so this seems like a fitting journey for him to return to the Tar Heel state so many years later:
